I Love Little Local Chocolate Shoppes

Posted by Big Mike on February 01, 2012

I’ve noticed a nice trend lately …. There seems to be more little chocolate shops around!  Some of my favorites: there’s Speach’s Family Candy Shoppe (since 1920) in Syracuse, Sweet On Chocolate in Armory Square,  The Chocolate Pizza Company in Marcellus and Manlius, NunBetter (the Sisters of the Third Franciscan Order) on Court Street, Hercules in East Syracuse (family run for 111 years),  Kimberly’s Ice cream and Chocolates on Caz Road, Promise Me Chocolate (locally run on the web), Man In The Moon (in Oswego), and there’s also Gertrude Hawk and Lindt at the malls.  And now there’s a delicious new little shop I just discovered: Lune Chocolat in the Manlius Mart.  They feature all handmade-on-the-premises gourmet chocolates using local, all-natural ingredients. Owner Emily is from North Syracuse and is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and she is a certified chocolatier!!  You have to love all these folks who work hard all day making chocolates for us.
